On the road from Reykjavik towards the south, you see the new powerplant Hellisheiðavirkjun.

In a short distance lies Hveragerði with it’s steams rising from underneath. There are greenhouses and a swimmingpool with warm water. And people must look out for hotsprings everywhere!

In january 1973 the earth opened and out came fire and lots of lava and ash. Noone was injured but many houses disappeared undir the ashes.
